Pre-Kindergarten ยท 4 Years
Pre-K at Ohana Is Not a Warm-Up. It Is the Real Thing.
Our four-year-olds engage in a full academic curriculum every day. By the time Pre-K ends, every Ohana graduate is not just ready for kindergarten โ they are prepared to thrive there.
Aligned to Local Schools
We Know the Schools Your Child Will Attend. We Build Toward Their Expectations.
Ohana graduates go on to public, charter, and private schools across Jefferson County, Douglas County School District, and Littleton Public Schools in Arapahoe County. These are different systems with different entry expectations, and we know all of them.
We have met with principals and kindergarten teachers across the South Denver metro. Our Pre-K curriculum covers every one of those expectations โ academically, socially, and behaviorally.

The Curriculum
Six Subject Areas, Every Day
Built around the actual kindergarten entrance standards used by local schools. Not what we think they need โ what we know they need.
Reading Readiness
Letter recognition, phonemic awareness, print concepts, early sight words, book handling, and comprehension strategies.
Science
Observation, inquiry, simple experiments, and the natural world. Real curiosity, real learning.
Writing
Name writing, pencil grip, letter formation, and early composition. The mechanics and the meaning.
Social Studies
Community, family, seasons, maps, and being a good citizen in the classroom and beyond.
Mathematics
Counting, number recognition, basic operations, shapes, patterns, and measurement. Math as a way of thinking.
Art
Creative expression, following multi-step directions, and fine motor development through a variety of media.
The Spring Play
Every spring, our Pre-K students perform a full theatrical production โ acting out parts, singing, dancing, and creating their own props and set decorations.
The Spring Play builds memorization skills, creativity, public confidence, and the ability to work as an ensemble. It engages both hemispheres of the brain in ways standard academic instruction does not. All families are invited.
Arrival by 9:00 AM
We ask that all Pre-K students arrive no later than 9:00 AM. Our morning Welcome Circle begins at 9:00 sharp and sets the tone for the entire day.
Students who arrive late miss the structured start that anchors the rest of the morning curriculum. We appreciate your partnership on this. Students who no longer nap are provided quiet independent activities during rest time.
Pre-K Spots Are Limited. Families Plan Ahead.
If your four-year-old is heading to kindergarten next fall, now is the time. Schedule a tour and walk through our Pre-K classroom. We would love to show you exactly what kindergarten readiness looks like at Ohana.
