Three-Year-Olds ยท 3 Years
Building the Foundation for Everything That Comes Next
Three is a pivotal year. Children arrive curious and leave capable. The gap between a three-year-old in September and that same child in May is one of the most remarkable transformations in early childhood โ in academic growth and personal growth, in equal measure.
Our Three-Year-Old Curriculum
Three Areas. Enormous Growth.
We build academic foundations through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction while supporting emotional development through consistent relationships and clear expectations.
Pre-Literacy:
Learning to Love Books
Reading readiness begins years before phonics worksheets โ with books read aloud every day, songs that make language playful, conversations that expand vocabulary, and stories that model narrative.
By the time children move to Pre-K, they understand that books tell stories, print carries meaning, and words are made of sounds โ and that is more than half the battle.
Early Numeracy:
Math Is Everywhere
Counting, sorting, comparing, and pattern recognition are the building blocks of mathematical thinking. Three-year-olds are developmentally primed for this work.
We meet them there โ through manipulatives, games, songs, and the natural integration of math into daily life that makes numbers feel like friends rather than subjects.
Social-Emotional:
The Skill Set That Outlasts Everything
Children who develop emotional regulation, empathy, and problem-solving in early childhood do better academically, socially, and professionally throughout their lives.
We name emotions. We practice conflict resolution. We celebrate kindness. We create a community where every child is seen, included, and valued.
How We Teach
Play, Story, Art, and Guided Learning โ Every Day
Our Three-Year-Old classroom is a structured environment where the most important academic work happens through play, books, art, and the kind of focused small-group instruction that three-year-olds actually respond to.
We honor both academic growth and personal growth. A child who is kind, curious, and emotionally regulated will succeed anywhere โ and we build that alongside letter recognition and counting.
Looking Ahead
Our Three-Year-Old curriculum is intentionally designed to feed into our Pre-Kindergarten program. By the end of the year, children are ready for the structure, expectations, and academic content of Pre-K โ whether they continue at Ohana or move to a different program. We prepare them for success anywhere.
